Today is Thanksgiving Sunday. Our church was beautifully decorated, thanks to Val.

The excited children came up for story time and this is the story:

I showed the children a donut this morning and then taught them this rhyme:" As you go through life, make this your goal; look at the donut, not the hole" What if all our attention was on the middle and complained about the hole? In our lives, do we look at what isn't there rather than what is there? This rhyme reminds us to see the good things in life, the things that we have that God has given us .......and be grateful.    Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

 

Messy Church

Thursday evening many of us gathered for the first "Messy Church". We had a wonderful supper and then the children quietly moved to the tent where we listened to a story about Adam and Eve and the snake. They learned two songs and then went out of the tent to play slithery snakes on the floor. Next was craft time .They stuffed men's ties , glued the ends,  googly eyes and a hissing tongue. Some of them also made circle snakes with googly eyes and tongue too. Great fun was had with these loooooooooooooooong snakes :)  A wonderful evening of food, fun and fellowship!

Community Hymn Sing Evening.

Many community members gather in Emmanuel Church on October 9th for the Community Hymn Sing evening. It was a wonderful night of great singing the old favourites! Thank you to Herman Dost for playing the organ for us and Karen Greaves and Joyce Roberts for offering their beautiful voices in song. Everyone left with a song in their heart!

Blessing of the Pets

October 4, 2013 is a day we remember Francis of Assisi and so we will have a "blessing of the pets". It will be held at 5:30 PM at the church. Please bring your pet on a leash or some restraining method.  Pets bring so much joy to our lives, make us  healthier and lower our blood pressure. See you at the church on Friday :)

Friday Evening had a variety of dogs arrive to be blessed. Happy dogs and families :)  Nice!

Community Hymn Sing Evening

October 9th is the night of our Community Hymn Sing Event. It will be held at 6:30 PM. Join us to sing  favorite hymns and enjoy listening to some solos.
