Today was Children's Service. Thank you to: Sage and Sidney for greeting; Baby Jonathan for lighting the focus candle[with his Mum's help];server Jessie; Sage and Sidney for bringing up the elements and collection; organist- me.
The prophet Amos [Kara] joined us today and was interviewed by Jessie. This interview gave us a very good message. [A prophet is someone who passes on God's message, tells people how God is feeling and what will happen if things don't change.] Amos didn't have any special training but God keep nudging him to be a phophet. His message to us........ like a plumb line, God will see if if we are in-line with what God intends, to do the things that God wants OR are we out of line? Get in line with what God wants: be fair,share what you have and work for good.
Who is your neighbour? The message looked at the Good Samaritan reading.I retold the story and everyone found the picture that corresponded with each part. We shared Good Samaritan stories from our lives.... acts of love and compassion.We began the message with a tray of items to observe and the recall. Afterwards we relooked at the items to see if we noticed anything new about them. They reminded us of people and the earth that need our care and compassion.... keys -homless in need of shelter; sppon- food for the hungry; nickel- money to help causes; bandaide- suport those in pain or are ill; leaf- care for our environment; tea bag- share our time with others and listen. EVERYONE is a child of God, so everyone is our neighbour.Do not pass people by. Reach out in love and compassion to all.
