Thank you to : our sweet little greeters Sage and Sidney; readers- Barry and Dave; our organist - Liz; server - Jessie; Sunday School teachers- Gwen, Yvonne and Anne;
Today's theme was "faith"..... belief in God...trust in God. When did you first learn about God and begin your faith journey?... as a little child? in Sunday School? In youth group? C.G.I.T.? J.A.? G.A.? a specific event in your life? Faith is total dependence upon God and a willingness to do His will.It is complete and humble obedience to God's will and a readiness to do whatever He calls us to do. The amount of faith isn't as important as the right kind of faith.... faith in our all-powerful God. Jesus gave an example of a mustard seed. A mustard seed is very tiny but we don't need more faith. A tiny seed of faith is enough as it is alive and growing. How has faith made a difference in your life? It doesn't take a great faith to produce great results. The results depend upon God not us!! Faith is much more powerful than we often believe ourselves. I gave a couple of example stories of faith in action. Do we feel we should be rewarded or given "extra credit" for our faith in God? If we have obeyed God, we have done our duty as we should and it is a privilege to do so. It is not something extra we do.It is our duty. Our prayer should be," Help us Lord, to use the faith we have and trust You to do the rest." Today we gather, with ALL the faithful through the yesrs, around the altar as we celebrate World Communion Sunday. We are united with all the saints here and all those who have gone before us. We are ONE family in Christ.... all believers... all the faithful.... one in Christ. Thanks be to God!
